By it's 180m wall, The Emosson Dam seals the gorge dug out in the natural rocky constriction by the Barberine River blocking the Emosson plain on the South-east. The first concrete was laid in September 1969, the last in August 1973. The dam was filled for the first on the 10th September 1975 (Volume 225 million m3 of water).
It is possible to walk on the Dam Wall and round the banks of the artificial lake. |
